Valleys and Canyons: Tres Cañones (Three Canyons)
A geological complex located at 4,801 masl in the district of Suykutambo, Espinar province, in the Cusco region. This marks the meeting point of three rivers: the Apurímac, Callumani and Cerritambo, as they come together to form the Gran Apurímac. It has impressive geological formations of volcanic origin that are 80 meters high and a rich forest landscape composed of queñuas (Polylepis) and tolas (Parastrephia lepidophylla). These rocky formations, formed by the passage of the rivers, give the area its name (Three Canyons).
The rivers, slopes and plateau of the area allow tourists to participate in adventure sports like trekking, paragliding, canoeing and rock climbing. The Eco-Sport Tourism and Traditional Dance Festival are held here annually.
