Peru celebrates around 3000 typical festivals every year, in which each region or department tends to have a typical traditional festival that makes it unique to each region, so we will now present the most important festivals in Peru and which are celebrated in more regions:

  • 1st of January – 1st of February: Marinera Festival
    Place: Trujillo, La Libertad
  • 6th January: Three Wise Men
    Place: Ollantaytambo, Cuzco
  • From February 1st to 15th: Virgen de la Candelaria
    Place: Puno, Lake Titicaca
  • 7 weeks before Easter: Carnival
    Place: Cusco, most of Peru
  • 24th to 25th of February International Adventure Sports Festival
    Place: Lima
  • First week of March: Fiesta de la Vendimia / International Grape Harvest Festival
    Place: Ica, about 300 km south of Lima
  • The week before Easter: Semana Santa (Holy Week)
    Place: Ayacucho, Cusco and most places in Peru
  • The Monday before Easter, Easter Monday: Señor de los Temblores (Lord of the Tremors)
    Place: Cusco
  • Sunday before Qoyullur Rit’i, or 50 days after Easter Sunday: Santísima Cruz del Señor de Choquekillca (The Holy Cross of the Lord of Choquekillca)
    Place: Ollantaytambo, Cusco
  • At the end of May or beginning of June, coincides with the full moon: Qoyllur Rit’i
    Place: Ausangate
  • 60 days after Easter Sunday: Corpus Christi
    Place: Cusco and most of Peru
  • 3rd May: Feast of the Cross
    Place: Cusco, Lima, Ica, the rest of Peru
  • 4th and 5th of May: Nazca Tourism Week

  • 16th of July: Virgen del Carmen

  • July 28th: Independence Day
    Place: All over Peru
  • August 1st – 7th: Cruz de Chalpon
    Place: Motupe, Lambayeque
  • 15-August: Virgen Asunta
    Place: Qoya and Calca
  • 1st – 30th of September: International Spring Festival
    Place: Trujillo, La Libertad
  • First two weeks of September: Mistura culinary Festival
    Place: Lima
  • 8 September: Virgen de Navidad
    Place: Chinchero, Other small towns in Cusco
  • October 18- 28: El Señor de los Milagros (The Lord of Miracles)
    Where: Lima
  • October 31st and November 1st: All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day
    Place: Most of Peru
  • First week of November: Puno Week
    Place: Puno, Lake Titicaca
  • 7 to 10 December: Immaculate Conception
    Place: Arequipa the Colca Valley
  • 24th and 25th December: Christmas
    Place: Most of Peru
  • 31st December, 1st January: New Year’s Day
